Earth loaf is located in Hebbal industrial estate, an industrial zone at the fringe of the city of Mysore, extending with stunning views near Hebbal Lake as the backdrop. The client’s brief called for a landscape-oriented footprint of approximately 35000 sq. ft on a 1 acre land .

With this space, we aim to connect the customer with the company’s your core philosophies, allowing them to step into the company’s your shoes and experience the joy of creating chocolates and share this journey – from bean to bar.

Earth Loaf, a chocolate experience centre in Mysore, Karnataka exhibits a set of landscape narratives that exemplify the manufacturing process of chocolate, its by-products and retail activities through sustainable solutions incorporated into the landscape footprint.

The design process for Earth Loaf started with the incorporation of extending the client company’s work belief ‘Bean-to-bar’ to the overall ideation. The spatial theme was interpreted around concepts dealing with the characteristics of chocolate and its impact on humankind. The zen-inspired dry landscape is attributed to the health benefits of chocolate, green landscape and water bodies to the calming effects of chocolate and flowering plants and creepers to the variety and excitement factors associated with chocolate. The overall organic approach that involved people, theme and experience created a spatial narrative that comprise of built structures, green structures and water bodies.

Incorporating vernacular elements like Mangalore tile roofing, Terracotta flooring , cane furniture, stone fountains and Indian inspired art motifs, all the areas are consciously designed aesthetically to reflect the regional and cultural identity. With supporting service systems like the solar panels, smart drip irrigation the campus is made self sustainable. With clay tile arch and mandala art, the entrance welcomes visitors with a promise of exquisite tangible and intangible experience.

Vernacular elements such as terracotta tile flooring, Mangalore tile roofing, cane furniture, pergola and shaded areas made of natural elements and Indian inspired art are consciously designed to reflect the regional and cultural identity also adding to aesthetics.
